The Summer They Never Forgot Mills Boon Cherish eBook Kandy Shepherd
I loved this book. It gave me a chance to see how the United Kingdom uses words that are so similar to ours in the US. I love anything that has to do with the UK. Some the best authors come the UK. This book is no exception. I bought a book by Kandy Shepherd just yesterday and saw that this book came before it so I bought it on my Kindle to read before reading the other. This book had me laughing and wanting to cry at the same time. I could actually picture myself on the beaches of Australia and swimming in the waters of Big Ray Beach. I could also picture the characters and what they went through in their past and future. I love the Love at first sight story of Ben and Sandy. The Sandy character actually reminded me a lot of the Sandy character in the movie Grease. It broke my heart how Ben lost his wife and son in a fire but also happy that he realized the that he couldn't live his life regretting what happened and not being able to save them but more more importantly that he could love again enough to risk is heart for the girl he meet when they were teenagers. I would love to read another book by Kandy Shepherd and to see how Ben and Sandy and their future turned out.

The Summer They Never Forgot Mills Boon Cherish eBook Kandy Shepherd Reviews
Childhood sweethearts get a second chance at happiness in Kandy Shepherd’s charming and irresistible debut novel for Harlequin Romance, The Summer They Never Forgot.
Sandy Adams had always thought that by the age of thirty, she would have settled down with the man of her dreams, had a couple of kids and found fulfillment in a challenging and satisfying career – she certainly never imagined that she would find herself single, dumped and unemployed! With her birthday fast approaching, Sandy realises that she cannot possibly continue to wallow in self-pity. She must take charge, grab the bull by the horns and become the mistress of her own destiny. Realising that she will always be haunted by memories of her failed relationship with Jason in Sydney, Sandy packs her bags, bids farewell to her old life and decides to go for an interview in Melbourne, miles away from her family and friends’ pitying glances and well-meant but excruciating sympathy. While on her way to Melbourne, Sandy makes a little detour to Dolphin Bay, the small coastal town where she had spent a wonderful summer experiencing the magic of falling in love for the first time. With a interview to go to and a new life planned in Melbourne, Sandy isn’t planning on stopping in Dolphin Bay. However, when she claps eyes on Ben Morgan, her first love, she soon begins to see the attractions of settling down in the beautiful seaside town…
Nobody is more surprised than Ben when Sandy Adams walks through the door of his guest house. Ben had been head over heels in love with Sandy when he had been nineteen years old. Although he had planned a future with the girl he was madly in love with, her pompous and pretentious father had put a stop to their relationship and Sandy had gone back home to the city leaving a heartbroken Ben behind in Dolphin Bay. Determined to prove to Sandy’s father that he wasn’t just a laid back beach bum, Ben had knuckled down and got a business degree in the City. Leaving behind the hustle and bustle of the metropolis to return to Dolphin Bay, Ben had been determined to bring his hometown into the twenty-first century and restore its fortune – which he’d done with great aplomb. However, Ben’s life has been anything but a bed of roses. Having lost everything he held dear to him in a cruel twist of fate, a dejected Ben had vowed to keep emotions at bay and never experience that kind of pain ever again. But Sandy’s return to Dolphin Bay brings to the surface long-suppressed feelings he’d thought long buried!
When Sandy finds herself having to stick around for longer than she intended, she quickly begins to feel at home in the Bay – and in Ben’s strong arms! Twelve years might have passed since that last fateful summer, but Ben and Sandy soon find themselves rekindling their old relationship. But will they have the happy ending they’ve always wanted? Or will they be torn apart by old fears and nagging insecurities?
A heart-warming, compelling and emotional tale about letting go of the past, taking a chance on love and healing from the past, The Summer They Never Forgot is a terrific contemporary romance packed with warmth, magic and heart that I couldn’t bear to put down. Ben and Sandy’s love story was dramatic, powerful and emotional, but it also made me a laugh out loud as well as shed a tear or two.
I thought Sandy was a terrific heroine. Believable, flawed and realistic, she’s the kind of heroine you’d love to have a natter and share a bottle of wine with whilst Ben was a gorgeous, sensitive and kind-hearted hero who will make readers go week at the knees!
A fabulous debut novel that has got keeper written all over it, The Summer They Never Forgot is an outstanding contemporary romance you will not be able to resist!
This review was originally published on Cataromance.
Kandy Shepherd has a wonderful way of bringing her characters to life, showing us many emotions along the way, we can see and feel everything within the storyline. The Summer They Never Forgot will have you riveted till the very last page. I read this book in one sitting and closed the last page grinning sheepishly and with a content heart and a big smile. ((I love HEA))
The Summer They Never Forgot offers a good strong plot with great characters, sexual tension, magnetic passion, strong pasts, lust, love, and a little suspense to keep you on the edge of your seat.
I have to say I am a sucker for second chance love stories with a steamy romance, and I recommend to anyone and everyone who enjoys a wonderfully written love story.
Kandy gives the reader great insight into the surroundings, the wonderful views and also in-depth thoughts and sights into the characters.
The main characters are fun and enjoyable and their love story is heart-warming and believable. The author develops the characters so well, that the HEA is extremely rewarding. ((Grins))
The author is able to grab the emotions within the storyline, focus on her characters while keeping the reader’s attention and telling a moving romance and love story with an ending I’m sure every reader will be happy with.
Kandy Shepherd is one of those authors whom I will follow and read always, she writes such wonderful romance that is so realistic and moving. This is her first book published by Harlequin Romance and definetly not her last.
Amazing, I loved it. (( throws a little magic glitter everywhere ))
A romantic escape well worth the reading.
This book gave me the warm and fuzzies from beginning to end. It's a bit of a cliche to call a romance sweet or heartwarming but that's really what The Summer They Never Forgot is.
I was having a pretty horrific day when I picked it up and was hoping I'd end up getting a dose of the levity the cover promised and that's exactly what happened. All the jobs I had around the house completely got forgotten and I ended up reading it in one sitting.
From the very beginning I found myself liking Sandy and I fell in love with Ben, the minute he walked onto the page. Yum. They were familiar, convincing and the conflict pulled me in leaving me really caring about whether or not they ended up together.
This is the kind of book you read when you want to give yourself a bit of a treat after a tough day or on a lazy afternoon. It's definitely going on my re-read pile.
